Motor Vehicle Tax

WE CAN ONLY ACCEPT U.S. CREDIT CARDS EXCLUDING PUERTO RICO AND THE VIRGIN ISLANDS. You can access and pay your motor vehicle excise tax bill on-line. To do so, enter your plate number and the bill year. Please note that the plate number field is case-sensitive. If your plate number contains letters, please be sure to capitalize them.

On-line credit card payments are accepted at this time. Partial payments are not accepted. Payments made over the weekend and holidays will not processed until the following business day.

When making an on-line payment, after entering your payment information, if you receive a "failure" message, please contact the City's Finance Department at (617) 349-4220 for further instruction. Please do NOT attempt to process your payment again. Please note the year is the bill year and NOT the year of your vehicle.
